Lives and works in New York
Stephanie Lucchese's approach to composition focuses on structure and depth, using volume to create arrangements that seem independent of traditional frameworks but reveal connections upon closer study. Her images incorporate hedonist themes, drawing from gothic and decadent literature of the late 19th century, with scenes of leisure, sexual expression, and macabre undertones. Her work resists fixed interpretations, presenting figures and spaces in a way that shifts between indulgence and decay.
Her paintings do not exist within poetry, but it moves with a similar fluidity—prose shaped by rhythm and repetition, carrying a structured visual cadence. Her scenes unfold with a sense of calculated balance, where figures and objects interact in a deliberate arrangement of form and space. A dynamic coherence guides the viewer’s perception through sequences that suggest movement and continuity. Each image presents a carefully constructed interplay of elements, emphasizing the structural and thematic unity within her body of work.
