Lives and works in São Paulo, Brasil

[ABOUT]

The relationship between the body, nature, and the automation of machines is the central tension explored in Juno B’s work. With a practice focused on video and installation, he weaves together mythologies, cars, the body in transformation, and dialectical processes that explore existence, fantastical cosmogony, and time.

His work investigates the boundaries between the natural and the constructed, evoking realities and parallel universes where nature takes on a generative rather than a conforming role. The use of 3D in his films serves as a conceptual proposition, questioning physical realities as fallacies in a time like ours, where past and future can be conceived in a spiraling rather than linear manner. His works propose a shift in traditional perception, where the relativization of nature and image redefines how we experience existence and its cycles.

Juno B studied Social Communication at the University of Fortaleza (2008) and earned a Master's degree in Arts, specializing in Graphic Moving Images, from the University of the Arts London – College of Communication (2011). He was also part of the Lastro decolonial study group in São Paulo (2017–2019). His work has been featured in group exhibitions such as Talvez nosso único elo seja a humanidade fracassada, Festival Kino Beat, Porto Alegre (2021); KEBRANTO/BOITATÁ (co-authored with Jonas Van), Tunnel Tunnel, Lausanne (2021); and Criaturas de fronteira, Homeostasis, online (2021). He has received several awards, including support from Fonds Culturel Sud – Artlink (2021), a Gold award in Digital Design at the Brasil Design Award for Museu Itamar Assumpção (2021), and the Multishow Music Award for Best Album Cover (Taurina by Anelis Assumpção, 2019). He was also recognized with a special mention in the "Master in Arts" category at the University of the Arts London (2011) and received the Temporada de Arte Cearense award for Zona de Litígio, Centro Cultural Dragão do Mar (2015).
